Welcome to ATAR Mathematics at 3E Learning!

For Year 11 and 12 students, we offer tutoring in the following courses:

• ATAR Mathematics Specialist
• ATAR Mathematics Methods
• ATAR Mathematics Applications

We designed the curriculum such that concepts are taught in the most intuitive way and in the most logical order possible. Throughout the courses, we will provide students with extensive opportunities to practice, finetune their problem-solving skills and showcase as many types of examination-style questions as possible. 

At 3E Learning, we understand the intense pressure of the ATAR mathematics courses and their high expectations on students. Therefore, the ATAR curriculum at 3E is specifically designed so that the course is brought well ahead of time. This allows students to have lots of time for revision, so that they maximise their achievements in the WACE exams.

Throughout the year, we will give students plenty of opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of the course material in examination conditions and homework exercises. We will use them to provide feedback to students and parents and track how students are making progress against the course syllabuses.

Topics covered in the year 11 course include:

Semester 1:

• Geometry
• Methods of proof and combinatorics
• Vectors in two dimensions

Semester 2:

• Trigonometric identities (extending from year 11 Methods)
• Matrices and Transformations
• Real and Complex numbers

Examination questions can range from those of a routine nature, assessing lower level concepts, through to those that require responses at the highest level of conceptual thinking. Students can be asked questions for which they may need to construct proofs and make conjectures. (SCSA, 2020)

Topics covered in the year 11 course include:

Semester 1:

• Trigonometric functions and geometry
• Polynomial functions, graphs and other relations
• Counting and Probabilities

Semester 2:

• Exponential functions
• Arithmetic and geometric sequences and series
• Introduction to Calculus

Examination questions can range from those of a routine nature, assessing lower level concepts, through to those that require responses at the highest level of conceptual thinking. (SCSA, 2020)

Semester 1:

• Consumer arithmetic
• Algebra and matrices
• Measurement

Semester 2:

• Univariate data analysis and statistical investigation
• Application of trigonometry
• Linear equations
