For Year 11 and 12 students, we offer tutoring in the following courses:

• ATAR Chemistry
• ATAR Physics
• ATAR Human Biology

Throughout the year, we will give students plenty of opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of the course material in examination conditions and homework exercises. We will use them to provide feedback to students and parents and track how students are making progress against the course syllabuses.

Throughout the Year 12 course, topics covered include: 

Semester 1:

• Chemical Equilibrium
• Acids and Bases (including titration)
• Redox Reactions

Semester 2:

• Organic Chemistry
• Chemical Synthesis

Examination questions focus on the application of chemical models and principles to comprehensively and consistently explain complex phenomena. Students should be able to accurately apply scientific knowledge to explain, in detail, unfamiliar contexts or examples and support responses with a range of appropriate example, diagrams or structures. (SCSA, 2020)

Throughout the Year 12 course, topics covered include: 

Semester 1:

• Gravity and Motion
• Electromagnetism

Semester 2:

• Wave-Particle Duality
• The Theory of Special Relativity
• The Standard Model

Examination questions require students to apply models and scientific principles to comprehensively explain and link complex systems and processes. Students are required to support responses with a range of appropriate examples Describes complex relationships between concepts using appropriate terminology and conventions. 

This course has a high expectation in student's mathematics ability. Students should also be able to consistently select and manipulate equations to solve complex problems, provide logically sequenced working and expresses answers using correct units and significant figures. (SCSA, 2020)

Throughout the Year 12 course, topics covered include: 

Semester 1:

• nervous and endocrine systems
• homeostatic mechanisms
• immune system

Semester 2:

• variations in humans
• evidence for evolution
• hominid and hominin evolution

Examinations at this stage focus more on question interpretation and data collection. Students are required to apply their knowledges and provide logical reasoning for their answers. Scientific inquiry skills continue to be assessed, especially the ability to draw accurate diagrams and extracting key data. (SCSA, 2020)

Semester 1:

• Atomic structure and properties
• Rates of reaction
• Stoichiometry and the Ideal Gas Laws

Semester 2:

• Intermolecular Forces
• Acid and bases
• Solutions and separation techniques
• Introduction to organic chemistry

Examination questions focus on the application of chemical models and principles to comprehensively and consistently explain complex phenomena. Students should be able to accurately apply scientific knowledge to explain, in detail, unfamiliar contexts or examples and support responses with a range of appropriate example, diagrams or structures. Topics covered in the year 11 course include:

Semester 1:

• Heat and thermodynamics
• Nuclear Physics
• Electricity

Semester 2:

• Linear motion and force
• Waves and resonance

Examinations require students to demonstrate use of terminology, understanding and application of concepts and knowledge of factual information. It is expected that questions would allow students to respond at their highest level of understanding. (SCSA, 2020)

Topics covered in the year 11 course include:

Semester 1:

• structure and function of body systems
• interrelationships between body systems
• essential body metabolisms 

Semester 2:

• male and female reproductive systems
• inheritance of genetic materials
• effect of environment on gene expressions

Examination focuses on students' investigation skills and question analyses abilities. Students are required to apply scientific knowledge to unfamiliar contexts or examples using appropriate terminologies and conventions. (SCSA, 2020)
